Ekoturizm Alanlarının Mekansal Planlanmasına ve Sürdürülebilirliğine İlişkin Yerel Halkın Görüşleri: Batı Akdeniz (Türkiye) Örneği

Abstract
Doğaya ve insana dair her türlü çevreyi tüketen bir endüstri olan turizm, sürdürülebilir mi? Bu sorunun akademik anlamda açık ve net bir cevabı olmadığı gibi sektörün ve turizm karar vericilerin de bu sorunun cevabına ilişkin bir beklentileri yok gibi. Dolayısıyla araştırma sahası olan ‘Batı Akdeniz’in nasıl bir planlama ve yönetim anlayışına ihtiyacı vardır?’ sorusunun önemi artmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Batı Akdeniz’de turizmin, sosyal, kültürel ve doğal çevre üzerinde yarattığı olumsuz etkiler ve sürecin nasıl yönetildiği konuları önemlidir. Özellikle ekoturizm ağırlıklı turizm çeşitlerini tercih eden bir bölge için bu konu çok daha fazla anlam kazanmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı bir ekoturizm alanında (Batı Akdeniz) yaşayan yerel halkın mekansal planlama ve sürdürülebilir turizm konusundaki düşüncelerini araştırmaktır. Bu kapsamda problemin anlaşılması adına bölgede yaşayan yerel halktan 194 katılımcıyla anket yapılmış elde edilen veriler karma yöntemle analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan anketlerde mekanın planlanması ve sürdürülebilirlik konularını anlamak adına kategorik ve açık uçlu anket soruları yöneltilmiştir. Elde edilen kategorik veriler frekans dağılımına, ki-kare ve anova gibi nicel analiz testlerine tabi tutulurken, açık uçlu sorulardan elde edilen veriler ise anlamlı bir şekilde kategorize edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Bulgulardan anlaşıldığı kadarıyla yerel halk turizme konu olan kaynaklarını korumak ve kontrollü bir turizm gelişiminin gerçekleşmesini istemektedir. Ayrıca onlara rağmen kararların alınmaması gerektiğini düşünmektedirler.

Abstract
Is tourism, an industry that consumes all kinds of nature and human environment, sustainable? There is no clear academic answer to this question, and the sector and tourism decision-makers do not seem to have any expectations regarding the answer to this question. Therefore, the importance of the question 'What kind of planning and management approach does the Western Mediterranean need? In this context, the negative impacts of tourism on the social, cultural and natural environment in the Western Mediterranean and how the process is managed are important. Especially for a region that prefers ecotourism-based tourism types, this issue gains much more meaning. The aim of this research is to investigate the thoughts of local people living in an ecotourism area (study area) on spatial planning and sustainable tourism. In this context, in order to understand the problem, 194 participants from the local people living in the region were surveyed and the data obtained were analyzed by mixed method. In the surveys, categorical and open-ended survey questions were asked in order to understand the issues of spatial planning and sustainability. While the categorical data obtained were subjected to quantitative analysis tests such as frequency distribution, chi-square and anova tests, the data obtained from open-ended questions were categorized and interpreted in a meaningful way. It is understood from the findings that local people want to protect their resources subject to tourism and to realize a controlled tourism development. They also think that decisions should not be taken despite them.
