Abstract
Bu araştırmanın temel amacı Akçakoca’nın spor turizmi potansiyelinin değerlendirilmesi ve önümüzdeki dönemde yapılması gereken çalışmalara yönelik öneriler sunmaktır. Bu araştırma nitel bir yöntem ile tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırma verileri 20.09.2019- 20.10.2019 tarihleri arasında elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analizi tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma kapsamında Akçakoca’da yer alan dört turistik tesis sahibi (özel), iki sivil toplum kuruluşu, dört yerel yönetici (kamu) ve iki akademisyen (üniversite) ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmada spor turizmi literatürü incelenerek ve verilen cevaplar doğrultusunda kriterler belirlenmiştir. Bulgular Akçakoca’da spor turizmi potansiyeli; turist profili, problemler, reklam ve tanıtım faaliyetleri, güvenlik tedbirleri ve bölgesel kalkınmaya etkileri boyutlarına göre değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda Akçakoca’da spor turizmi potansiyelinin yüksek olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Akçakoca’da spor turizminin geliştirilmesi durumunda ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel, çevresel olarak bölgesel kalkınmaya etkisinin büyük olacağı diğer önemli bir sonuçtur

Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the sports tourism potential of Akçakoca and to offer suggestions for the works to be done in the coming period. This research was designed with a qualitative method. The data of the research were obtained by semi-structured interview technique. Research data were obtained between 20.09.2019 and 20.10.2019. The obtained data were subjected to descriptive analysis. Within the scope of the research, interviews were conducted with four touristic facility owners (private), two non-governmental organizations, four local administrators (public) and two academicians (university) in Akçakoca. In the research, criteria were determined by examining the sports tourism literature and in line with the answers given. Findings Sports tourism potential in Akçakoca; tourist profile, problems, advertising and promotion activities, security measures and effects on regional development were evaluated according to their dimensions. In line with the data obtained in the research, it was concluded that the sports tourism potential in Akçakoca is high. It is another important result that if sports tourism is developed in Akçakoca, its economic, social, cultural and environmental impact on regional development will be great.
